Abstract

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used as a screening technique for assessing the compatibility of some drugs with excipients. On the basis of DSC results, interaction of a new liver protecting drug, allylthiopyridazine derivative, K6 and K17, with excipients was studied. K6 was found to interact with Avicel and lactose. K17 showed no interaction with all experimented excipients, and therefore K17 has a good compatibility with excipients. DSC is also a good tool for polymorphism study and therefore using DSC the polymorphism of K6 and K17 was studied, but K6 and K17 were found to be monomorphs.
